Khanya started in 2004 in a tiny room at Joza Location. There were only four children with different disabilities. as the time goes on the number has increased.
Every year the are number of children that are admitted to Kuyasa Special School coming from Khanya creche.
In 2007 the parents of these children had an awareness campaign that the community must accept our children. Now there are eight children coming from different areas of Grahamstown. there is a daily programme consist activities like self care, excises, music, communication and sensory stimulation.The children are kept during school hours. The challenge they have is the transport since most of the parents are not working .
Those are the wonderful children parents must treat them like normal children .There are children with visual impired
