What is nutrition? Nutrition is about eating healthy food and balanced diet.

We choose this topic because we want to know what would help our peers, who are from poor background just like us and it is also part of Life Orientation. Healthy food and healthy mind

We want to learn about:

A healthy balanced menu

Food groups in the pyramid

What happens when the balance is wrong?

If we want our body and our mind to be healthy and to work well we need to feed them properly and exercise correctly. So we need to know what is good to eat and what is bad to eat.

But what is it about these nutrients that make them good for us?

NUTRIENTS

Why it is good for me

Carbohydrates

Give our bodies energy

Proteins

Repair the body

Vitamins and minerals

Help our bodies grow and develop

Facts and sugar

Good for energy, but too much is not good for you

Calcium

Builds strong teeth and bones

In our school many students who do not eat enough of the right food or they eat too much of the wrong foods.

Diseases;         Kwashiorkor               Caused lack of protein            Symptoms: round stomach,

                        Anemia                        lack of iron                              pale skins
