NUTRITION

What is nutrition? Nutrition is about eating healthy food and balanced diet.

We choose this topic because we want to know what would help our peers, who are from poor background just like us and it is also part of Life Orientation. Healthy food and healthy mind!

We want to learn about:

  • A healthy balanced menu
  • Food groups in the pyramid
  • What happens when the balance is wrong?

If we want our body and our mind to be healthy and to work well we need to feed them properly and exercise correctly. So we need to know what is good to eat and what is bad to eat.

Nontekelelo Ngesi:

Good eating habits and food choices along with plenty of physical activity, help kids to mantain a healthy body weight and prevent obesity. Good nutrition during childhood helps support optimal growth and development. It can also reduce risks and chronic diseases, such as type2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Childhood years especially ages six to 12 are parent's best chance to exert a meaningful influence over their children's food choices.

We need to eat fresh vegetables and fruit from our gardens, so first we need to know how to plant seeds so that we can plant our own vegetables. This we need to know that fresh veggies and fruit are the best. We must stop using oil and spices.
