Madiba Project 2014

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela died the 5th of December 2013. We would like to focus on him for the next five sessions and have a celebration in his honour on the day he passed one year ago.

1. Session 1

  • What is the first thing you associate with Mandela?
    • Why? Explain in a short text
  • How old was Mandela when he died?
  • For how long in total did he stay in prison?
  • What was his prison number on Robben Island?
  • What did he change in South Africa?
  • Do you remember what you did on the day he died?

2. Session 1 - Ntaba Maria Primary School

1.If tata Mandela did not fight for freedom we would have been toy-toying now for freedom,equality in our country.He really is our icon,our hero and our father of the nation.He secrifised to live his family and friends behind and stayed in jail for 27 years fighting for freedom.

6.I was sleeping then suddenly my mother got a call from people telling her about the passing of tata.It was really sad to hear that but yeah he was very old and could not live anymore.

  • He stayed in prison for 27 years.

  • His prison number is 46664.

  • Since South Africa was under apartheid system he changed it into democratic system.

1. Love , peace and acceptence is the first thing I associate with the late Tata Nelson Mandela.

2. He was 95 years old

5. He changed the way black people were treated and he helped to bring down the apartheid system

6. I was asleep at the time of the passing of tata then a few minutes later my sister woke me up and she told me the bad news and all I could do at that time was to cry throughout the day but I learnt to accept the fact that he was gone for good

1.Mandela made use one and he made us respect one another.

6.Yes i do, that day he died i felt so sad and so sorry for his Grandchildren those who love him,and because of that i am too his Grandchild i was hurt.

i was not sad cause he was very old im sorry but he died at a very good time cause he was really old and im so sorry for him diying in pain

first of all i'm athenkosi kitsili and I want to thank Nelson Mandela for he gave us freedom without him playing his role in South Africa we wouldn't be having the equipment we have in our schools to you tata Nelson rholihlala Mandela we are grateful.

He was 95 years old.

I was watching his funeral on the t.v and on that day I was feeling very emotional because i was thinking of things that could change in South Africa without Nelson rholihlahla Mandela.

IF ICOULD SPENT A DAY WITH MANDELA I WOULD ASK HIM ABOUT ALL HIS JISTORY.I WOULD SHOW HIM ALL MY GOALS AND ACHIEVEMENTS.

I WOUILD ASK HIM TO TEACH ABOUT CHALLENGES OF LIFEBECASE I BELIAEVE THAT HE HAS BEEN THROUGH A LOT OF UPS AND DOWNS.

A DAY WITH NELSON MANDELA WOULD MEAN A LOT TO ME.IT WOULD MEAN A LIFE TIME OPORTUNITY.I WOULD GET TO KNOW ALL ABOUT THE PAST EXPERIENCES.

A DAY WITH NELSON MANDELA WOULD MEAN CHANGING MY LIFE FOR GOOD.

I would tell him everything I have liked about him and I would tell him great things he have done to black people. I would do everything that he want me to do for black people and I will make sure that I do that thing he asked me to do properly because he has done a lot .I would ask him how did he survive in jail. I would do everything because he made blacks great people. He is our father he fought for our land. He stayed in jail for 27 years for blacks. I would show him how much we love about what he has done to blacks.
