Music is live it lives with dance it moves with dance. Dance is like the brother of music.I aspect my music to be soothing to have meaning to be long and the person singing must be a role model to the youth inspire us young people because some of us look up to singers. In my perspective the music is importent to old people because it brings a sense of calm and peace to there mind and soul.

The C .M Vellem learners had the opportunity to visit Ilum this morning as part of 67 minutes for Madiba,They got to learn more about the different Music instruments.

Ntaba Maria had their first session with Lunga and Zukani this group of learners are very enthusiastic to get going with their song writing.

Nayluza Got together with Zukani And Lunga to discuss their first music session

C.M Vellem came together to present their lyrics to Zukani a few good versus were written

Good sheperd the youngest group to work on awarenet are also part of the music project had their first session with Lunga and Zukhani these youngsters were very enthusiastic about the whole music project

OUR FIRST MUSIC SESSION

OUR FIRST SESSION WAS COOL BECAUSE I FOUND OUT SOMETHING THAT WERE COOL AND IT'S GRATE TO KNOW ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE UNDERGROUND MUSIC,I'M NOT A FAN OF IT COZ TI'S NOT IN ORDER LIKE IT(SOME)DON'T HAVE A BRIEG,etc. BUT IT'S GRATE TO KNOW ABOUT THINGS LIKE THAT.

A good spirit came from Ntaba Maria when they presented their lyrics two groups were formed that rapped their lyrics away

In that 3 weeks pasted I’ve learnt much about music and I know what to do when am doing my rap skill. I even realised a track an on Sunday last week but it is not dope as the peace song as you know that am not dope as the last time

Now we are doing to be correct tomorrow our lyrics will be like the other artist. I want to be like the guy that is teaching us.......

In music session i learn more than i know about music.It was cool because we learn more things that are dont know about music. Let me tell you what are does things i dont know is bars and lyrcs.I like to have does guys teach us. Ilike music.

I think I lern something to music project.Our first session was cool becouse . I lern that on music you ferst thing you song marst have the name of the song.And the song marst have the coras and verss.In ferst week they give us a homework to right arewer own lyrics.

the first three weeks of peaceday music lesson was so nice and I have enjoyed every lesson they gave us.It was so fun with Lunga and the guy.it's fun when you learn about something you dont know and were lucky in our day because in the olden days you would not get an opportunity to learn something you didnt even think you would know in a lifetime so there is more fun in learning about music.

I learne that all the types of music are nice for me but my best music is rap but the rap is very nice for me.A rap is nice because a rap is very lovely for all poeple the poeple that are in ather cuntry they are veryloved the rap.The poeple that they make rap for us they nice like they music.


Last week i learne that when i want to start rap i have to be happy because the poeple that they want to listen to me are very happy for my beet music.If you want to rap you have to make noise in the stage the noise that have make poeple happy for your music in your rap.

The music section was good and lunga and zukani teach us a lot and I learn lot of things in lunga and zukani in my first day with lunga and zukani was good but I was scared. I enjoy it the second week at was not good it was great know am not scared am just cool I learn many things in lunga and zukani I learn how to sing and how to write lyrics and am happy about that..

Lunga and Zuka told us that there is going to be a music competition.They also told us that we are going to compete with another schools.They taught us we have to be divided into groups and came up with own song lyrics.At the following week they played for us a beat and try to fit your lyrics to the beat.

We a lot about music like how make bars,chorus, and verses and also,it was fun and exciting.As we are C.M.Vellem we would like to win this competition and it means a lot to us to have our own cd and video..

What have I learn't in the music project.
In the past three weeks I have learned a lot in the music project.I have even learn't that if you want music to be attractive it must have some ryming.It was great making my own lyrics writing everything that I want to write about.

I wrote about unity.People must make peace with others so that we build a rainbow nation.The reason I chose unity is because if we to make a SA we must start to unify...I think that our song will be succesful.One of the best songs in Gtown.

I've leaned so many things in the music sesion,things like being patiant in everything that you are doing . because everything takev time ,they even tought us how to start your words when you are writing a song and what words you should use when writhing a song.

It was very cool,to have Lunga and zukhanye train to us about music.I'm very very excited to have vocal training.We were told to to write Lyrics and come up with different ideas.I'm so so excited for the rapping.They told us that underground music hip hop that people sing without a beat.We learnt a lot about hip-hop music.

When you wrote a song you have to have verse and chorus.
Lunga and Zukisa told us that when you make a song of your own
you have to have you own beat.Zukisa told us that background songs are not worth it because when you are selling background songs people won't buy them so if you make a proper song people will like your song, and when they buy your song you will be a artist and you can open your own studio

I felt good beause no one was judging anybody's lyrics.And everybody write what he or she feel about peace day and how he or she understand what is the peace day about.The beat was cool but i thinki it was too fast for my lyrics but my teacher gave ma an advice that i m ust not judge my self .when Brother Zukani listened my lyrics and it was not what i expected because he kind of given a way on how to sings it.What they doing its a great thing because Hip-Hop is hard but if you have it the right way nothing is hard.

This past week I learn a lot about music. I learn how to write a song and I was thought that when you write a song you have to have vesse.They also thought me when you have your own song you can be a artist.

Last week bhuti zukani told us every thing about music and he told us that we should be proud.Bhuti zukani is the teacher of our music project and we are glad that we found someone like him and we thank the music opportunity that he gave us to create our own songs.

The main thing is that they are the people that we were looking for now they are making our dreams come true because some of us were wishing one day they will make song but our dreams came true

In past three weeks i've learne a lot about music and it was a greatful/fanstestick to me to learn more about muic. on the fisrt day to i was so scared but now im so happeness to learn music here in school. My exeperiance is that i want to be the greatest artist here in school or out side the schoool with music.

I've learn more about lyrics and about the types of music .the is many types of music for example underground love songs . and my song that im wrote about all the people must have a peace and forgiveness..

In the past 3 weeks in music session i have learnt many things. Last week on Monday we wrote lyrics as a class we wrote the rapping verse it was really awesome.It was really cool to see the class participating and having fun.We were a bit struggling when we had to write words that were rhyming. But we really had fun.

I have experienced a lot from Lunga and Zukani I never new how to write lyrics.They actually taught us how to rhyme and to feel the beat. my favourite music is rnb because its fun to groove to and it has many instrument in the music and also i can lisen to it with my friends because its mostly for the youth of today and also you can mostly sing along to the songs and also they have a message if you just lisen very slowly and under stand the rhythm and bass of the song...when i mostly lisen to rnb is when i am at home alone or just feel lonly cause it feels that bordness and also when am not in the mood for any thing.....my favourite instrument is the trumpet because it has a groove rhythm and also because you can use your hands and you only use your breath and its very easy!!!

awarenet Peace Day Celebration 2013

Yesterday the awarenet Peace Day Celebration took place for the second time in Grahamstown. It was a wonderful event! More than 100 learners from 5 schools in all presented their own Peace Day songs to 400 visitors. Corinne Cooper, along with Sean Devonport and Tsukudu Moroeng, students of Sound Technology at the Dept of Music and Musicology composed the backing music for them. The learners wrote the lyrics of their songs by themselves and practiced them with Terri-Lynn Penney, Lunga Heleni and Zukani Budaza for 7 weeks. Sanele Ntshingana and Neo Koza from the Rhodes University leaded the audience through the concert. Groups from Nathaniel Nyaluza Secondary, CM Vellem Higher Primary, Mary Waters High, Good Shepherd Primary and Ntaba Maria Secondary schools competed to perform the best Peace Day song. The talent was incredible! Composer Sabastian Jameson, master student in ethomusic cology Nicole Germiquet and Hip Hop specialist and composer Tsukudu Moroeng, who also performed on stage, judged the learners in certain categories. The certificates for the best male and female rapper went to Azola Jela from Nathaniel Nyaluza Secondary and Asiphile Vena from Good Shepherd Primary school. For the best performance the judges chose CM Vellem Higher Primary school and the certificate for the best Peace Day song lyrics went to Nathaniel Nyaluza Secondary school. Bradon Williams from Mary Warters High school gave a special performance. He performed alone and won the certificate for the best overall performance by an individual. Finally Ntaba Maria School won the first price for the best Peace Day song 2013. They will record their own music video! Certainly the other schools won’t be left out in the cold. All songs will be recorded on a CD. Corinne Cooper of the Dept of Music and Musicology will record and produce the CDs at the department’s recording studio. As a special guest Siayanda, the local kwaito artist who a few years ago won the best music award of Cacadu district, performed at the competition. All in all it was a completely successful event!

The awarenet Peace day concert went off very well I was very happy with the input and the output of the concert the talent and the potential were unbelievable best Ive seen in a long time

I WANT OUR MUSIC VIDEO TO BE EXCITING AND INTERESTING TO WATCH,I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE DANCERS AND IT SHOULD BE SHOOTED AT JOZA NEXT TO THE CHURCH BECAUSE THE MUSIC VIDEO IS ABOUT PEACE AND LOVE AND IF WE DO IT NEXT TO THE CHURCH IT WILL SHOW THAT YOU CAN FIND PEACE AT THE CHURCH...AND THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN FIND LOVE AND PEACE IS TO FORGIVE AND FORGET AND THATS WHAT GOD WANT US TO DO...SO PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH HAVE LOVE AND PEACE FOR EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD.I THINK WE SHOULD WEAR OUR CASUAL CLOTHES AND HAVE PEOPLE FROM THE CHURCH WHO WILL BE WEARING THE CHURCH UNIFORM AND I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE JUST A SMALL PART OF PEOPLE WHO CAN ACT OUT A SHORT STORIE ABOUT LOVE AND PEACE.......

I think it would be nice to do our music video at the settlers monument because when you are at the top of the hill, there is a great view of the city of saints and there are those big British guns and it would be great if we used those guns as props, it would show that Grahamstown is a city with rich history.

How

I would like it if we took a tour around the monument, walking on the road, dropping our killer verses and all of us will smile so that we can show appreciation for this huge opportunity we had to be on awarenet.

Theme

Our song is about love, peace and freedom and our song does not promote crime and breathing the fresh cool breeze on top of the hill and singing would be a great thing for our music video.

Dresscode

It would be nice if we would wear our uniform because it shows that we are a team but if we could wear our casual clothes we would feel free and we could jump free and we could jump around making our music video exciting.

Equipment

At the settlers monument there are guns, and we could use those big guns as props, like standing next to the guns dropping our rhymes, that could be so exciting.

Who

It would be great if bhut’Zukani and bhut’Lunga could be on our music video because they helped us a lot and I believe that if they did not help us, our song would not be as exciting as it is, and it would be great if Terry would be with us on the music video because she has been a great Shepard to me and my mates

MY MUSIC VIDEO EXPERIENCES

Shooting the music video was so much fun, because I got to do something really amazing and interesting. i never knew that shooting a music video would be so complicated but I guess it is.

I mostly enjoyed the girls part because we managed to be fun and make it look so cool using our awesome ideas. we shot our scenes in the 1820 settler's monument here in grahamstown and also at the bonatical gardens... I'm pretty sure that yall can't wait to see it, because I swear it's so awesome.

Doing a music video is awesome and it also needs a lot of commitment and dedication you also need to be creative,fun and interesting. it's actualluy a good step for me in order to persue my career because I want to do journalism,media and radio.
